Crispy fried tofu
Fried tofu bites with a flavorful coating.
1 package Morinaga Silken Tofu – Extra Firm
2 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce or tamari
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 tsp. dehydrated vegetable seasoning
1 Tbsp. canola oil
One day before: Cut tofu into 3 slices, about 1/4 inch thick. Wrap individually in plastic, freeze overnight on baking sheet.
Before cooking: Defrost and drain slices on paper towels.
Pour tamari or soy sauce into 9-inch square glass baking dish. In another bowl, combine nutritional yeast with seasoning. Dip tofu slices into tamari, then yeast/seasoning mixture to coat both sides.
Pan-fry coated tofu in oil over medium heat, 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Turn and repeat.
Alternative to pan-frying: Place tofu on a lightly oiled or non-stick baking sheet, then bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until brown.
